ENTRY 10: D'ENOUEMENT
---------------------
Not much happened. All were present.
After driving back to New York, the
gang dropped off Jorgana, who (as
it turned out) really had nothing
to do with fighting cultists
generally; but merely lent a hand
this time since it was so
important.
The gang went to the hotel to sleep,
and had varying degrees of
success doing so. (Side note: Nobody
had any strange nightmares,
though.)
The next morning, it was decided that
the group needed to gain tickets
to the Carlyle Charity Ball later
that evening. Elizabeth tried to
talk a flunky at Dunston, Whittlebee,
& Grey's office (Mr. Grey,
Carlyle's lawyer, wasn't available)
into getting her some tickets, to
no avail.
Back at Elizabeth's apartment, everyone
started making preparations to
leave the city. Elizabeth left a message
with Victoria Post's
secretary that Ms. Carlyle should
get in contact with her regarding
sensitive medical news about the family.
That night, Elizabeth and
Katya went to Under the Table to say
goodbye to Jorgana.
The next day, Elizabeth Carlyle called,
and arranged a meeting one
week hence at 3pm at her Estate, asking
Elizabeth to bring medical
documentation.
Starting that night, Katya and Jim
notice that they are being followed
by two white men. It was decided that
Carlyle was probably at the
bottom of it, so they don't do anything
untoward.
At the Carlyle Estate, Jim and Elizabeth
were glad they didn't try
breaking in. Carlyle Fortress would
be a more appropriate name, given
the guard dogs, the high barbed wire
fence, and the clear area around
the house itself.
Jim was shown to the billiard room,
where he enjoyed himself shooting
pool. Elizabeth talked at length with
Ms. Carlyle, coming clean about
the fact that she believed her life
to be in danger. She got
essentially no information. Carlyle
was surprised to learn that her
brother, rather than the doctor, was
the driving force behind the
expedition. Ms. Carlyle refused Elizabeth
access to look at the texts
her brother left behind, thanked E.
for her information, and sent her
away.
The group purchased first class tickets
to London aboard the
Mauritania.
