Immortal: You can only die in four ways - if your
Imperator is slain, if you are struck with certain
extremely rare Excrucian weapons, *possibly* if you commit
suicide, or possibly if something completely unexpected
comes from beyond the known Realms with unknown
powers. You are both Eternal (you don't age; hunger,
thirst, and the like are optional) and Durant (Difficult
to injure and heal quickly) as well.
Limited Shapeshifting: (Any form of cutting
implement.)
Possession: (By touch of a willing mortal.)
Glorious: Your physical appearance, in some ways,
stirs strong emotion in all mortals and (to a lesser
extent) Powers. The emotion could be lust, fear, respect,
a desire to cause you no harm, etc.

Handicaps

Affiliation - Heaven: Beauty is the highest
principle. Justice is a form of beauty. Lesser beings
should respect their betters.
Confusion: (Regarding what is *his* will, and what
is Azrael's.)
Inanimate: Um, self-explanatory. This is a limit.
Foci: (Excalibur. This focus has a Miracle Point
and adds one Aspect to the bearer.)
All Heroes Are Tragic: (It must be true!)
Trust: Completely trusts any family member.
Dependent Pets: (Family flaw) Bonsai.
Untalented Imperator: (Family flaw) Must take
the appropriate challenge; cannot resist an appropriate
martial challenge.

Background
|
This noble has never been human, or even living. Created
during the Revolt in heaven as a weapon to be used against
the Fallen, he (and he _is_ a he) takes pride in his long
service and distinguished service to Heaven. In his true
form, he appears as a flaming blade of radiant beauty. He
can, however, be found just as often as not in the form of
some mundane cutting instrument-- scalpel, chainsaw,
scissors, etc. Reflecting his original purpose, he is
somewhat ill-suited to life on Earth: on that plane, he is
an inanimate object. When on Earth, he must by physically
borne and manipulated by a living being. Similarly, all of
his anchors are blades, also. Whether this is by choice or
necessity is a matter for debate; when asked, he simply
replies that he understands what it is to be a blade much
more than he understands what it is to be a human or
elephant or dragon.
To his Heroes, those who he allows to carry him or his
anchors, he is both a blessing and a curse. While they
actively serve him, they are capable of feats beyond all
but the greatest humans, and he generally allows them to
use this power to pursue their own causes (so long as he
approves). However, power inevitably corrupts. For so long
as the Hero wields the blade in the war against
corruption, his or her own corruption spreads within them
like cancer. The moment they put hand to the blade, one of
their vices becomes the tragic flaw that will eventually
prove their undoing. When they are not actively serving
him, this process is arrested-- arrested but not
reversed. Again, whether the Blade himself could stop or
reverse this process is open to debate; when asked, he
simply replies that the supply of potential Heroes is
endless, while his energies are limited. What is another
human life compared to the fate of all Creation?
Lastly, the Blade has existed since almost the beginning
of time and was created when things were... much
simpler. Although he has kept up with the changing
universe quite well (a few decades behind the times when
it comes to technology, but that's to be expected) and his
mind is still sharp, nothing can exist that long without
consequences (except the Angels, of course.) Those of his
family who have observed him for more than a decade (or
who listen to the rumors) have concluded that the Blade is
afflicted with an odd but deep eccentricity: he cannot
truly tell the difference between himself... and Azrael.
